This was a straightforward lime-rendering project where we had to hack off all the existing render and re-render with two coats of natural lime based mortar. Part of these works included the repair of the door and window surrounds in such a way as to be sympathetic both to the age of the building and to the existing and undamaged window surrounds.
These works were for a local Mairie and the look and methods used were under the guidance of the architectural watchdog Bâtiments de France. It has to be said that being a British firm and working for a French Mairie did add a certain importance (tension) to the way in which we undertook this work. As our every move was scrutinised, we all felt we had to not put a foot wrong in order to do justice to British "artisans". Luckily everything went well, the mayor was delighted with the works and has subsequently recommended us to other Mairies.
