Wet Room

Free standing wet room. This was particularly difficult as a project as we had to build a freestanding wooden structure, connected only to the floor below. We then had to construct a wet room within this structure. The way this was done was to build the frame in 11cm x 8cm timber with both vertical and diagonal supports, all glued and screwed. 22mm marine plywood was then glued and screwed giving a much more rigid structure. The frame was continued thorough the floor and glued and bolted to the main floor timbers.

The floor within the structure was then clad in 10mm marine plywood glued and screwed to the floor, all joints were siliconed. The wet area was then made using a proprietary wet room system and doubling all the mesh strengtheners to corners. Finally this was tiled and grouted, all tiles were glued using flexible adhesive. To date there has been no movement and the wet room shower is in use daily.
