These works were a large scale lime render project for a French client. The scaffolding of this project was complex given the shape and height of the house. In addition, the lime-based render was to be applied on both old and new surfaces with a back coat of lime to the old stone surfaces and a cement-based render to the new block-work. All surfaces were then to be finished with a natural lime-based render.
The blending of old and new is never easy but with the application of natural rounded corners and a greater texture to the finish, this can be achieved. The corners have to be formed without the aid of metal angle and the finish can be achieved by sponging the drying lime render to draw out more of the aggregate within the sand.
