Although the uncovering of stone facades is dealt with in that section we also work in stone in other areas most importantly the repair and new construction of stone walls. Again we work in lime based mortar as this is more sympathetic to the surrounding stone, strong mortar is not better especially when being used with soft rock such as sandstone. The basics of stonework are similar to blockwork with cross bonding and levelling, however the application of an experienced eye to make the stonework as attractive as is possible is essential.
